Abuelo Three Angels 12-Year

Raisen and cacao on the nose, my new favorite, imagine a centuria but more raisen forward, slight hint of coffee, and a more of a burn on the finish (something I really like - since I like overproofs). Or from the other side a two oaks with a kick and not flat at all.

Endnu en rigtig god rom, med den velkendte smag fra Abuelo. God smag og let drikkelig.

Now I have had almost all Abuelo except the centuria. On the nose above the glass smells like Abuelo 12y. If you put your nose further in cognac strong.

The taste is like 12y but way stronger that the 15y cognac cask. It is actually a bit too strong on the burn if you ask me. The taste is still there but the finish burns like cognac, more than the 15y Abuelo cognac.

You could say this is the cognac version of the Dos Madeira's 5+5 aged if u ask me. Take 1 on a neutral tong and call it an evening.

Nice surprise and kick. Initially a little sweet but smooth. Great alone or in a mix drink. A definite buy for the rum cabinet.

More levels of flavor than the Two Oaks. A bit sweet but very nice overall. Smooth and powerful finish with a sligh burn due to slightly higher alcohol content. Overall, very nice.

This one is a surprise. I dislike most bourbon, and rum finished in bourbon casks generally becomes sweet bourbon. Not so, with this one. It has the bourbon bite, but it does not overwhelm the buttery flavor of the rum, and the oakey barrel flavor. It seems made for slow sipping. Really small sips highlight the butterscotch sweetness of the rum, and produce a nice long finish. Big sips make the flavors of the bourbon dominate, and the finish is slightly bitter. I added one drop of water to my tasting glass, and the butterscotch disappeared and the finish shortened dramatically. Two drops seemed to bring more of the rum out, and three drops left me with a complex mixture of rum and bourbon flavors and an nice long finish.

Up to this day, the best rum I´ve personally experienced. A must have.
