I picked this bottle up at the back end of last summer when I was going through a Ti Punch craze. However, because I had picked up multiple different Blanc Rhum Agricoles I didn’t get a chance to write a proper review until now.

Like all Rhum Agricole this Rhum is made from fresh crushed sugar cane juice which is briefly fermented and then distilled on a column still. It is bottled, unaged, at 50% ABV. However, as I have found, despite similar to near identical processes, each Rhum Agricole can be very different from other Agricoles even from the same region, cane varietal, and distillery. Each brings different nuances. So what does this one bring to the table?

Taking it from the Glencairn I smell Freah cut Green Hay and Green Olives in Brine. Those two notes I find pretty common across many Agricole expressions. However here is where the nuance comes in: next I detect just the slightest hint of Strawberry Jam. At first I didn’t trust my senses on this note so i went back to the well…yep, I am not imagining things. It’s not super strong, just hint, but that’s the note. Next I get spent Lime wedges and Coriander. Thats different and I suspect will play nicely in a Ti Punch (spoiler: it does).

On the palate I immediately get Lime and Powdered Sugar in an interesting 1-2 punch. After that comes Chalk and a very familiar Vegetal note like uncooked snap peas.

This Agricole Blanc actually has a finish to write about, which can’t be said for some. Here on the retrohale I get Black Pepper and a powerful fresh Herbal note, the closest approximation of which is Cilantro.

This is a good one. It’s nothing spectacular or mind-bending, but it is well above average and the balance is quite nice. It’s not a rum am likely to sip on straight…but that’s not what I got it for anyway. I got this one for Ti Punch on hot Georgia days. So how is it for that use? Quite good.

This Rhum makes a very solid traditional Ti Punch. It’s natural Lime, grass, and powdered sugar notes really lean in to the ingredients in the Ti Punch and make for a very solid cocktail.

Do I recommend this rum if you see it? Yes, I do. This is a classic subtly nuanced Agricole Blanc that makes a great traditional Ti Punch.

Aroma - fresh sugarcane followed by mango and fresh cut grass

Taste - sweetened limes followed by fresh sugarcane, mineral water, and a black pepper finish

I would have given 6.5 if I could, but I still think this is a good rum, especially with lime/sugar.

Has that classic agricole character.
Has almost a floral aroma.

Al naso dolcezza vanigliata, miele, canna da zucchero, vegetale e terroso
Al palato terroso, muschiato, dolce, floreale, avvolgente e delicato, estremamente delizioso in un daiquiri
